The Storyline of Top Gun: Maverick

But when he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick confronts the ghosts of his past, his deepest fears and a future that is uncertain.
Also coming to light in the sequel is the son of Maverick’s late best friend and Radar Intercept Officer, Nick Bradshaw aka Goose. His son, played by Miles Teller, is a new recruit in Top Gun and Maverick has taken it upon himself to mentor, echoing themes of generational relationships and evolving military traditions.
On-Location Filming and Production Design
The original Top Gun was primarily shot in California, with memorable sequences filmed around San Diego. In keeping with the original, the sequel returned to San Diego for its principal photography, showcasing the beautiful landscapes and naval culture the city holds.
The production design of Top Gun: Maverick elevates the authenticity of the navy pilot world. The crew’s efforts result in a representation of aircraft carrier life, fighter jet operations and indeed, the raw environment of the vast sea and relentless desert.
This pursuit of authenticity extends to the action sequences. Reported to have filmed with real aircraft instead of solely employing CGI, the sequel promises to offer an even more visceral and realistic depiction of flight than that of its predecessor.
