Sofia Vergara, born Sofía Margarita Vergara Vergara, hails from Barranquilla, Colombia, and was born on July 10, 1972. The second of five siblings, Sofia grew up in a Roman Catholic household with close-knit, traditional family values. Known for her charisma and vibrant personality since her school years, Sofia attended a bilingual Spanish/English school, Marymount School Barranquilla, where she proved to be an outstanding student.

Sofia Vergara’s ascent in the entertainment industry didn’t come overnight. Her first exposure to show business began at the tender age of 17 when she was spotted by a photographer while enjoying a day at the beach. This chance encounter led to several modeling jobs and her first ever TV commercial, which was a Pepsi advertisement.
