Robson Golightly Green is a renowned English actor, singer, songwriter, and television presenter. Born on 18 December 1964 in Hexham, Northumberland, Green’s success story embodies the dreams of many aspiring artists. Early Life and Education

Green’s early life was simple and anchored in the pleasures of countryside serenity. He was born in a small English town, Hexham, Northumberland. He lived in Dudley, a small North Tyneside mining village, and gained his typically strong ‘Geordie’ accent from this region. His father, also called Robson Green, was a miner, and his mother, Ann, was a cleaner and shopkeeper.

Green received his early education at Dudley Middle Comprehensive School, where he showed keen interest in acting from an early stage. He developed his acting skills in school productions, heading to work down the mines with his father as a Draughtsman upon leaving school.

Career in Television

Green started his television career with minor roles in casual television dramas. However, it wasn’t long before he got his major breakthrough from BBC’s ‘Casualty’ in 1989. His outstanding performance in ‘Casualty’ helped him get noticed, leading him to star in the series ‘Soldier Soldier’ from 1991 to 1995.

One of his finest roles was in ‘Wire in The Blood,’ a British crime drama television series that aired from 2002 to 2008. His portrayal of clinical psychologist Dr. Tony Hill was highly acclaimed.

Green has also explored adventure-filled journeys in his shows ‘Extreme Fishing with Robson Green’ and ‘Robson’s Extreme Fishing Challenge’. These series exhibited his zest for nature, adventure, and fishing.

Music Career

While widely recognised for his acting prowess, Green is also a celebrated singer. His music career kick-started when he performed ‘Unchained Melody’ on ‘Soldier Soldier.’ The song became an instant success and led to the creation of the pop duo Robson & Jerome with co-star Jerome Flynn.

The duo delivered several chart-topping hits, including ‘Unchained Melody,’ ‘White Cliffs of Dover,’ and ‘I Believe.’ Their debut single ‘Unchained Melody’ remained at the number one spot on the UK Singes Chart for seven weeks, making it the best-selling single of 1995.
