Mahomes played several sports including football and basketball but finally chose to pursue football and turned down several offers to play professional baseball. Patrick attended Texas Tech University, where he continued to play football, earning Big 12 and NCAA records for his performances.

Collegiate Career
Mahomes’ collegiate career at Texas Tech University was impressive. He redshirted during his freshman years in 2014 but made his debut the following year, playing in all 13 games. He finished this year with 3645 passing yards, 36 touchdown passes, and 15 interceptions.
By the time he was going into his junior year, Mahomes had already gained national recognition for his on-field performances and displayed impressive stats.
