Nico Collins was born on the 19th of March 1998 in Birmingham, Alabama. As a child growing up in America’s ‘Deep South,’ rugby was his first love. He was introduced to the game at a tender age. He quickly excelled at it and began to draw attention from his performance on the field. As Collins grew older, his growth spurt made him an ideal candidate for football. His agility, coupled with his formidable height and dominant build, made him the go-to wide receiver in his high school football team at Clay-Chalkville High School in Pinson.

Transition to College and Professional Football

After making a significant mark in high school football records, Collins was offered a scholarship to play at various Division I colleges. He eventually chose the University of Michigan, aware of the solid reputation the college had for producing NFL-standard players. At Michigan, Collins continued to fine-tune his skills under the tutelage of Coach Jim Harbaugh, becoming one of the Wolverines’ star players.

In early 2021, Collins’ hard work and dedication paid off when he declared for the NFL Draft. His outstanding performances at Michigan ensured his draft stock was high, resulting in Collins being taken by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Collins was the 89th pick overall, officially achieving his childhood dream of becoming a professional football player.
