Dee Dee guarded Gypsy within her fabricated spectrum of illnesses even as various charitable organizations stepped forward with assistance. They moved into a Habitat for Humanity house after Hurricane Katrina and received support ranging from celebrity meet-and-greets to trips sponsored by nonprofit organizations.
A Secret Digital Life
In secret, Gypsy Rose began using the internet at night to make contact with the world outside her mother’s reach. As technology became more accessible, it provided her with an outlet to explore concepts related to identity, relationships, and eventually independence.
Throughout this independent exploration online, Gypsy entered into a relationship with Nicholas Godejohn whom she met on a Christian dating website in 2012.
